京都#50 サイモンに先制点を挙げられるが、次のポゼッションで#10 チェンバースがジャンパーを沈め、序盤からお互いに点を決め合う展開となる。
#21 エドワーズのAND1やジャンパーなどで千葉が一歩前に出ると、少しずつ点差を広げていき、12点リードで第1Q終了。
2Q
千葉 42-45 京都
最初のポゼッションで#3 パーカーが得点を決め、このQも順調な立ち上がりを見せる千葉。
対する京都も#50 サイモンや#23 モリスなど、インサイド中心に加点。
第2Q残り4分で8点差まで詰められると、その後も京都の勢いは続き、残り1分で逆転を許してしまう。
千葉の攻撃が繋がらず、3点ビハインドを負ったまま前半終了に。
3Q
千葉 65-69 京都
開始早々京都#12 岡田に3Pを決められたものの、千葉も#2 富樫のジャンパー、#27 石井のAND1で追撃。
京都もディフェンスリバウンドから中外バランス良くスコアを伸ばしてくるが、#5 田口の2本の3Pなどで一時は同点に並ぶ。
しかし第3Q終了間際に京都#3 伊藤のフローターが決まり、4点ビハインドで最終Qへ。
4Q
千葉 87-84 京都
立ち上がりで京都に2連続得点を許すが、ショットクロック間際で#5 田口が3Pを沈め流れを引き寄せようとする。
しかし京都も手堅いディフェンスから攻撃を組み立て、#3 伊藤のスティールからブレイクが決まるなど簡単に流れを手放さない。
4点差のままオフィシャルタイムアウトを迎えると、千葉は守備から流れを作り残り50.9秒で1点リードを奪うことに成功する。
さらに#2 富樫が残りわずかのところで決勝点となるジャンパーを沈め、逆転勝利で2018年最後の試合を締めくくった。

「ファウルトラブルもあって苦しい試合でしたが勝ち切れて良かったです。誰かが成長しているというよりチームとしての成熟度が上がって来ていると感じていますが、まだ「俺がやってやろう」という気持ちが出てしまう場面もあるので、平常心でしっかり40分間戦えるチームを目指します。」

「応援してくれる方の為に、いい終わり方で新年を迎えてもらいたいという気持ちで戦いました。(小野選手について聞かれ)長期離脱からの復帰で勘を取り戻すのは大変だと思いますが、天皇杯には彼が必要ですし、少しでも取り戻してもらって3連覇に向けて一緒に頑張りたいと思います。」

「悪い流れを変えたいと思って試合に臨みました。リバウンドだったり何でもいいので貢献したいと思っていた中で、自分の仕事であるシュートを決めるという形で貢献出来たのは良かったです。勝ち切ることはできましたが、準備を怠らず気を引き締めて来年また頑張りたいと思います。」

「試合が終わってからは勝てて嬉しい反面、出られなかった悔しさもありました。自分にできることはいつ出されてもいいように準備するだけだと思っていますし貢献する自信もあるので、出られないことでモチベーションを下げるのではなく、それを糧に頑張っていきたいと思います。」

「なかなか自分達のペースを掴めませんでしたが、我慢して勝てたのはチームが成長出来ているのかなと思います。シュートは当たってなかったのですが、終盤に信頼してパスをくれた仲間と使ってくれたHC、応援してくれる皆さんの為に決めたいと思って打った3Pが決まって良かったです。」
